    Main function: stability + noseriding

A pivot fin is designed primarily to hold the tail of a longboard in the water, particularly when the surfer is walking toward the nose. The large, upright surface area creates substantial resistance to the board yawing or sliding sideways.

    • Noseriding — helps keep the tail planted while you're on the nose.
    • Cross-stepping — provides a stable, predictable platform while moving around the board.
    • Pivot-style turns — the upright template lets the board rotate around the fin rather than drawing out a long carving arc.
    • Hold — the broad base and large area provide strong lateral stability.
    • Traditional longboarding — particularly suited to logs and classic single-fin boards.
